Convergence for varying measures

چکیده

Some limit theorems of the type $\int_{\Omega}f_n dm_n -- --> \int_{\Omega}f dm$ are presented for scalar, (vector), (multi)-valued sequences m_n-integrable functions f_n. The convergences obtained, in vector and multivalued settings, weak or strong sense.

Weak Convergence of Probability Measures

This text contains my lecture notes for the graduate course “Weak Convergence” given in September-October 2013 and then in March-May 2015. The course is based on the book Convergence of Probability Measures by Patrick Billingsley, partially covering Chapters 1-3, 5-9, 12-14, 16, as well as appendices. In this text the formula label (∗) operates locally. The visible theorem labels often show the...

Partial Convergence of Coupled Time-varying Systems

Asymptotic behavior of a partial state of coupled nonautonomous ordinary and/or partial differential equations is investigated. The system assumes the existence and uniqueness of the solution and the existence of a Lyapunov function candidate. Although ordinary Lyapunov analysis can not guarantee the asymptotic convergence of the state, the analysis in this paper assures the asymptotic converge...

Convergence Rates for Smoothing Spline Estimators in Varying Coefficient Models

We consider the estimation of a multiple regression model in which the coefficients change slowly in “time”, with “time” being an additional covariate. Under reasonable smoothness conditions, we prove the usual expected mean square error bounds for the smoothing spline estimators of the coefficient functions.

Integral Convergence Related to Weak Convergence of Measures

We consider probability measures µ n , µ on a metric space X such that µ n weakly converges to µ. The following convergence lim n→∞ X f n (x)µ n (dx) = X f (x)µ(dx) is proved under some restrictions on real valued functions f n and f which are measurable, not necessarily continuous nor bounded.

LIMIT LAWS FOR SYMMETRIC k-TENSORS OF REGULARLY VARYING MEASURES

In this paper we establish the asymptotics of certain symmetric k–tensors whose underlying distribution is regularly varying. Regular variation is an asymptotic property of probability measures with heavy tails. Regular variation describes the power law behavior of the tails. Tensors and tensor products are useful in probability and statistics, see for example [7, 14, 17]. Random tensors are co...
